BLACK SHADOW PORTRAITS is a photographic project inspired by the art of cameos, carved jewels, and 18th century silhouettes, in which the image is of contrasting color to the background.

I have tried to achieve similar results using the contrast between light and darkness. The shade creates a silhouette and leaves the rest to the imagination. Each viewer can add personal, intimate details to the characters.

There is something magical and ancestral about the depths created by the color black, something we are all familiar with, as if the atavic fear of the dark we learned to overcome as children were now transformed into a magic portal through which we can access our innermost fantasies.

BLACK SHADOW PORTRAITS è un progetto fotografico ispirato alle silhouette del ‘700 e all’arte dei cammei, gioielli scolpiti a mano, nei quali l’immagine in rilievo è di colore contrastante rispetto allo sfondo.

Ho cercato di ottenere risultati simili usando il contrasto tra luce e  oscurità. L’ombra crea una silhouette e lascia spazio all’immaginazione. Ogni spettatore può aggiungere dettagli personali e intimi ai personaggi.

C’è qualcosa di magico e ancestrale nelle profondità create dal colore nero, qualcosa che tutti conosciamo, come se l’atavica paura del buio che abbiamo imparato a superare da bambini, ora si fosse trasformata in un portale magico, attraverso il quale possiamo accedere alle nostre fantasie più intime.
